Alex Bell was born in 1986 in Hampshire. She studied Law on and off for six long years before the boredom became so overwhelming that she had to throw down the textbooks and run madly from the building. Since then she has never looked back. She has written supernatural mysteries for Gollancz, and also has a comic fantasy being published by Hodder Headline in September 2009. What’s the worst chat up line you ever heard? I hate chat up lines - they're always awful. Buying someone a drink, on the other hand, is a much classier way to go. Especially if it's the expensive kind with an olive in it.
If you were an animal which one would you be and why? Definitely a llama because I love how haughty and weird they look. And they spit at people, and at each other.
What was your worst fashion disaster? Having my hair permanently straightened. The process really damaged my hair so I had to have it cut short.
What’s your guilty pleasure? I have questionable taste and, consequently, numerous guilty pleasures. But the first one that comes to mind is the Carry On films.
Do you have any piercings or tattoos? Only pierced ears but I would love to get a tattoo based on something from one of my books some day.
What was the last song you listened to? Closing Time by Leonard Cohen.
Where do you do your best thinking? In the car, in the shower or walking my Great Dane on the beach.
If you were a superhero what would your power be? It's got to be flying. Best power by far.
When was the last time you lied and can you tell us the lie? I never lie! (But if I did, I would be a good enough liar not to admit to it).
